The City of Forest Hill Fire Department remains committed to providing a superior level of emergency service to protect the lives and property of the citizens and businesses of our city.  We promote a safe environment through public education programs and we urge our employees to serve as role models.  As a driving force in our community, our staff works to improve the quality of life, health and safety of those we serve.

The Forest Hill Fire Department is an EMS/ALS First Responder.  It is also responsible for Fire Prevention Education, Fire Safety Inspections, Pre-Fire Planning, hydrant maintenance, bi-annual business inspections, Fire and Arson Investigations and the Emergency Management for the City.

Meet the Fire Chief

Fire Chief Pat Ekiss

Chief Pat Ekiss manages and directs the administration and operations of the Forest Hill Fire Department. His department strives to provide the community the best possible emergency and non-emergency services.

A 23 year veteran of fire service, Chief Ekiss has spent the last four years with Forest Hill in his current position and previously worked with the Arlington Fire Department.

Chief Ekiss is a member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs, a member and Past President of the Tarrant County Fire Chiefs Association and a member of the Texas Association of Fire Service Educators.  He is currently serving and is Past Chairperson of the Regional Emergency Preparedness Advisory Council, which serves a 16 county region of North Texas.  Chief Ekiss is also Past President and founding member of SERPA, the Southern Emergency Response and Preparedness Association. 

Chief Ekiss holds certifications as a Master Firefighter, Fire Instructor II, Hazardous Materials Technician, Fire Investigator, and Head of Department by the State Commission on Fire Protection.  He is also a Texas Department of State Health Services certified EMT/Paramedic.  Chief Ekiss has also served as an instructor with Texas A&M University Extension Services for the past 24 years.

He is married with two children and five grandchildren.
